Gary Field

Gary Field is a proud Wiradjuri man who has dedicated his career to community development and Indigenous health, with a deeply rooted commitment to Darkinjung country on the Central Coast.


Educated locally at Gorokan Public School and Gorokan High School, he pursued higher education at the University of Newcastle, earning a Bachelor of Social Science in 2016.


Further enhancing his expertise, Gary obtained a Master of Indigenous Health and completed postgraduate studies in Indigenous Trauma Recovery and Practice at the University of Wollongong, alongside vocational certificates in Health and Fitness, Disability, Mental Health, and Training and Assessment. He is also a New South Wales Justice of the Peace (JP).

As the Director of Operations and Strategy at Barang Regional Alliance, Gary plays a crucial role in steering the alliance towards its goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to the well-being and empowerment of the local Aboriginal community.

His leadership extends to serving on the boards of the Art House and the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council, as well as being the Co-Chair for the Taronga Zoo Aboriginal Advisory Committee where he contributes to promoting Indigenous culture and rights.

Gary’s professional journey reflects his dedication to community service and cultural preservation.
